Pastor Cory Hughes
Pastor Cory L. Hughes was born in Chicago, Illinois June 26th, 1977 but currently lives in Grand Prairie, Texas He attended and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1995and obtained a football scholarship to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar Missouri. It was while attending this Christian university that Pastor Hughes experienced a spiritual transformation and re-dedicated his life to Christ.Though he was still known as one of the campus drug dealers and gang bangers,he was recognized as a leader by campus officials and was unexpectedly elected President of Cultural Awareness Now and due to this exposure he was often invited to speak in front of large student bodies congregated in the campus auditorium.

After being awarded a B.S. degree in Biology and a minor in Business Management Pastor Cory relocated to Houston, Texas where he pursued a career in sales and marketing. While working as a manager at Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, Pastor Cory was elected to the multicultural leadership initiative that promoted unity and cohesiveness between all races and genders. In 2001 Pastor Cory accepted his call to ministry and began pursuing after the purpose that God had placed in him.Feeling a major calling in the spring of 2007 he and his wife along with 8other families started New Direction Christian Worship Center. Pastor Cory is a devout husband to La’Keesh Hughes and a proud father to four amazing children.He is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity and in the beginning stages of writing his first book titled “If I can, U Can”! The Message that Pastor Cory delivers is always relevant, real and radical. Do to his style of preaching and passion for the Word of God and the people of God, Pastor Cory is drawing the young and the old, the saved and the unsaved, black and white and leading them in a New Direction.
